This was by no means intentional! (Lookbook)I'm just getting addicted to layering this chambray shirt over stuff. And I'm so glad I was able to buy a longer skirt (though I really should have worn another one underneath; it was cold). Cardigan: Giordano; ₱1099PHP Hat: Comic Alley; ₱450 Parka: Esprit; $249NZDThis hat is not only warm, but it acted as a beacon for a classmate! | First of all, I wanted to apologize for that wee hiatus. I went on a two week holiday to the Philippines, where I had a lovely time. I used that time to give myself a break from my usual online 'responsibilities' beyond keeping up with my social networking sites, which was a lovely break. That said, the Philippines is also a tropical country in the middle of summer right now, and I didn't want a sudden two weeks of summer outfits in the middle of all my winter posts! But now I'm back in Wellington's windy winter, and back to uni next week, so I'll soon be back on class schedule. :) Especially as I have classes four days a week instead of three this semester, and volunteer the other day. (But volunteering has a uniform, so no post on Tuesdays.) Headband: Club Princess via Toys'R'Us; ₱44.75PHP down from ₱49.75PHP Scarf: Urban Angel Cardigan: Giordano; ₱1099PHP Periwinkle top: Urban Angel Belt: Genevieve Gozum; ₱50PHP White top: Glassons; $15NZD one day sale Jeans: Aeropostale outlet; $26.36USD after tax Boots: Aldo; $29.99USD on clearanceNow, summer is generally my favorite season, for both the heat and how easy it is to get dressed, but even with the insane amounts of shopping I did, there was something bizarrely reassuring about getting back to winter and layers. (Lookbook)Or maybe it was just getting back to the rest of my wardrobe and long sleeves and covered up legs... Coat: Sparkle & Fade by Urban Outfitters; $9.99USD down from $98USDAnd coats! I kind of missed this coat while I was away. Want to comment but don't have a Livejournal account? That's okay! Just hit comment anyway. You'll get a few options: Anonymous: Precisely what it says. | Sweater dress: EB Urban by Ezibuy, second-hand via Paper Bag Princess; $10NZD Shirt: Glassons; $15NZD one day sale Belt: Urban Angel Jeans: Aeropostale outlet; $26.36USD after tax Boots: River Island via ASOS; £35GDP down from £64GDPToday I went with my little sister and our mom to my old high school's open day and hit up a job vacancy afterwards. So while my usual consideration was to look presentable, today I had an extra challenge: Winter is well and truly here. It was time to break out.... a sweater dress. (Lookbook)I've actually been looking forward to breaking out my two sweater dresses for a really long time, to tell the truth. I mean, this one has pockets! And it's not like I'm going to bring them to the Philippines. Parka: Espirit; $249NZDOf course, the sweater dress was not enough, and I also had to bust out the parka, and a pair of tights underneath my jeans. I get that cold. Tights: Columbine via FarmersAnd a wee bonus: What I bummed around at home in after I walked home. I live near the top of quite a steep hill, so walking it is a very easy way to get warm, especially when I was already wearing these tights underneath my jeans. I look so unintentionally patriotic. | The last week or so I've had way too many huge assignments due for me to even think about writing up my blog entries. I did, however, take photos on the days I did head out, so I'll be catching those up in the next few days before I head off to the Philippines! I can't wait for some summer and that Floridian heat and humidity I've been missing. Dress: Spicy Sugar Shirt: Valley Girl; gifted Skirt, as petticoat, making this look lumpy: Urban Angel; $19.99NZD on sale Tights: Columbine via Farmers Boots: River Island via ASOS; £35GDP down from £64GDPToday was game six of the Stanley Cup finals, so I thought I'd show my team colors even though I don't actually watch the games! (The time difference plus having a life sort of put paid to that.) Naturally, my attempt at keeping warm by chucking another skirt underneath makes it look even more ridiculous than the too big dress already does. (Lookbook)However, what I really went out for today was to get my hair done! I've been wanting streaks like Tina Cohen-Chang from Glee's since long before there even was a Glee, and finally I had the backing to bite the bullet. The hairdressers had a little too much fun with it but I am pretty damn happy about it. Cardigan: Forever 21 Parka: Esprit; $249NZDThe other thing I hate about this dress is that it actually blends perfectly into the blue curtains I usually use as my indoor backdrop, and the other spot in our house that's fairly plain has really terrible lighting which I can't really fix with Photoshop. :( Want to comment but don't have a Livejournal account? | Jersey: Glassons Shirt: Ramo via Victoria University of Wellington; giveaway Belt: Who knows? Skirt: Cotton On; $10NZD on sale Skirt as petticoat: Urban Angel; $19.99NZD on sale Kneesocks: Postie Plus Boots: River Island via ASOS; £35GDP down from £64GDPI totally thought I'd worn this before, but I just checked all my posts with this skirt and apparently I haven't. Huh. Anyway, I threw this on to go in to school to hand in an assignment and frantically try and finish a couple more. (And yeah, no coat today; I wish I had, though, because I didn't get home till after nightfall and it was cold.) (Lookbook)I was also trying to break in these lovely new boots. I have been hankering after a brown pair for a while now and Mom took pity on me and bought these for me. ♥ Of course, now that they're here, I'm never quite sure what to do with them... I do love, them, though, in all their ridiculously pre-scuffed glory. Want to comment but don't have a Livejournal account? That's okay! Just hit comment anyway. | Dress: Mexico pavilion, Epcot; cast discounted Cardigan: Chica Booti via Valley Girl; $15.99NZD Belt: Urban Angel Tights: Columbine via Farmers Boots: Aldo; $29.99USD on clearanceLast Sunday was my family's church's multicultural mass, where folks are encouraged to wear their culture's traditional clothing. My family doesn't actually own any traditional Filipino clothes (except for Dad and his barong), so I put on the next culture's traditional clothing I had, which I think (it wasn't labelled or anything) is a huipil. It's a Mexican traditional dress which I bought on Mexico pavilion and is (hopefully) made in Mexico (so it says). (Lookbook)Mexico pavilion is one of my favorites on World Showcase, and I fell in love with these dresses the first time I saw them. It's the gorgeous embroidery that gets me. And while I'd originally wanted a white one, on the day I finally impulse bought this, I'd just walked all around World Showcase in my work uniform and a hoodie covering up the shirt in Floridian heat and needed something cooler to wear, so I resorted to blue. I've gotten pretty fond of the blue, though! I just find the shape of the dress (the lack thereof) hard to work with. Parka: Esprit; $249NZDThis dress is made of a really light, breezy cotton which is wonderful in summer or in Florida, but in the start of a Wellington winter, it really didn't work so well! So no one at mass actually saw that beautiful embroidery, just this giant parka, a blue skirt, and red tights. (My neutrals were in the wash so I tried to match a color on the dress and just ended up with this horrendous contrast. Not trying that again.) Want to comment but don't have a Livejournal account? | Shirtdress: Lacoste; hand-me-down Cardigan: Chica Booti via Valley Girl; $15.99NZD Belt: Pagani; $7.50NZD down from $19.99NZD, buy two get one free Tights: Rubi Shoes via Cotton On; two for $10NZD Boots: Modcloth; $38.99USD down from $64.99USDLast Friday I threw this on while I was running late for the bus to my little sister's basketball game. They won! (Lookbook)I know a dress like this is meant to be all versatile, but I'm really bad at coming up with what to do with it. I guess that's because I'm not very accessory-minded. Beret: Bought in France; gifted Coat: Sparkle & Fade by Urban Outfitters; $9.99USD down from $98USDOn the upside, it's a mite thicker than most of my other, very summery dresses, so it worked well for a winter's evening. | Blazer: Emerge by Ezibuy Dress: ASOS; £10GBP down from £20GBP Belt: Borrowed from Mom Kneesocks: Postie Plus Boots: ASOS; borrowed from MomI wore this last Thursday for an interview about a volunteer position at the city hospital. Either I nailed it or they're desperate ;) Because the other lady interviewing was accepted too and they were mildly concerned about her. (Lookbook)Starting July (when I get back from the Philippines), I'm going to be a hospital guide, showing people around the hospital. Coat: Sparkle & Fade by Urban Outfitters; $9.99USD down from $98USDI'm kind of nervous about it, because while I love talking to people and giving directions, I'm rather more used to doing it in a place where most people actually want to be! They were brilliant! The girls did Telephone and had surprisingly charming choreography, and the chamber choir did an original composition by the head girl. Loved it. (Lookbook)So y'all have seen this vest before but never from behind. That's right: It's a halterneck. Another opportunity to show off ye olde school colors. Jacket: Canterbury for Wellington Girls' College via Wellington Girls' CollegeThis jacket is part of the school's PE tracksuit and was the first thing I knew I was wearing today. When I get my pride on, it is not subtle! Frankly I'm just glad the staff didn't give me grief about wearing uniform horrendously wrong when I don't even go there any more.
